LFA’s Xylitol DC (“directly compressible”) is used as a non-carcinogenic sweetening agent in a variety of pharmaceutical dosage forms, including tablets, syrups, and coatings. It is also widely used as an alternative to sucrose in foods and as a base for medicated confectionery as it is a sugar alcohol and does not add any calories. Xylitol is increasingly used in applications in chewing gum, mouth-rinses, and toothpaste tablets as an agent that decreases dental plaque and tooth decay.

LFA’s Xylitol is perfect for making toothpaste tablets. The reason for this is that Xylitol is an agent that decreases dental plaque and tooth decay unlike other sugars such as Sucrose. Other than toothpaste tablets, Xylitol is found in the ingredients of many mints, lozenges, gum, orally dissolving and other confectionery products. While helping the users teeth, you will still experience the sweet taste that we are used to with sweets.

Simply add your flavoring, active ingredient and coloring, and the Xylitol DC will act as the binder and flowing agent. It is important to note that depending on the active ingredient, you might need to add an anti-caking agent to the mix. If you have formulation questions then please do reach out to our team.
